Halloween, Part 2

Well this was probably the most disappointing Halloween in a long time.

Since the only people who see me at my job are my coworker and my boss, and it was cold that day… I just wore Chase’s Spike kigu to work over regular clothes.

Over the weekend I decided that for Halloween night, I’d wear my DCNU Wonder Woman to hand out candy. It needed some repairs, so I did those Monday afternoon after work and then some more after I got home from play practice. The biggest problem was that one of the snaps had pulled off the back of the chestpiece, so Chase got that glued back on for me.

So Halloween day I got home from work and immediately washed my hair, got it mostly dry and put in rollers to sit for about two hours. Usually that’s enough to at least get somewhat of a curl. Got some makeup on my face, got into the costume. Took my hair down.

And my hair immediately started to fall. Oh well, I thought, it’ll still be fun.

I couldn’t get the neckband or armband on by myself so I was just going to wait on Chase to get home to help me with those. I walked into the kitchen to get the candy bowl down and as soon as I flexed in the slightest… the repaired snap popped open. It didn’t break though… the snap just wasn’t as strong as the original ones and wouldn’t hold. So I reached over to try to snap it down again and POP. One of the front snaps pulled off the chest plate completely.

By that point it was already dusk and kids were going to start coming by. I didn’t have time to dismantle and repair. So I just took it all off. Stood around staring at my closet for a few minutes.

ALL THESE COSTUMES AND NOTHING TO WEAR.
I was going to put on blue village Belle but it’s not hanging – it’s folded in a bin which meant the whole thing would’ve needed ironing. Didn’t have time for that, had to get into something quick.

Soooooo Dorothy it is. It was still out from this weekend’s photoshoot. I went with the partially pulled back/bow look since that was easier.

Chase got home and fixed dinner, we ate and towards the end of dinner the first trick-or-treaters showed up. They were cute, they were excited I was Dorothy so that was nice.

A few minutes later two more came by. And then…. nothing. We sat around until 8.

Then I gave up and went and got the costume off, took a bath and washed my face. As I was putting my PJs on I heard the doorbell ring – a couple more Chase got.

Aaaaaand that was it. It had been a little drizzly towards the start of the evening so I guess that chased them off. We have had some years where we run out of candy… and some really low years but this one was definitely the worst.

I left the light on and door open til 8:30, then I closed up shop. We finished up Stranger Things 2 (I liked it a lot! Season One was like a 10 for me, season 2 was maybe an 8.5. I really want to watch through both seasons again now.)

I put Spike back on over my PJs just in case… and also because it was cozy.

So that was my Halloween:
Couldn’t find my Halloween decorations
Didn’t get a pumpkin
Had to leave Trunk or Treat early
Costume broke
6 trick-or-treaters

But hey at least I got to do 2 cool photoshoots and I have my Dorothy pictures back!
